Jon Poindexter W5ALC
Jon Poindexter W5ALC

Technical Systems Specialist, Web Design

I've always been driven by curiosity about how things work. Growing up in Austin, Texas, I was surrounded by technology—my mother and stepfather both worked at IBM. When I was 7, my stepfather left IBM to repair watches and clocks, introducing me to precision manufacturing and repair. At 14, a visit to Farmington, New Mexico sparked my interest in amateur radio, a turning point that shaped much of what followed. I earned my technician license in February 2004 with the callsign KE5ALC.

Amateur radio naturally led me into the open-source community. Both share the same spirit: experimentation, collaboration, and building things simply because they can be done. Linux gave me the freedom to experiment with software, while amateur radio let me experiment with hardware and connect with others who share my enthusiasm for learning.

I enjoy hands-on projects and creating tools that make gathering and sharing information easier. I'm especially passionate about helping people think through problems, explore new approaches, and eliminate obstacles. If you're facing a challenge and need a second set of eyes, I'm always happy to work through it together.

Terry Koelling AD0A
Terry Koelling AD0A

Weather Information Room/Telegram

During Terry’s growing-up years, he moved around a lot due to his dad’s job. The family finally settled in Colorado, where Terry graduated from high school and attended the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. He graduated as an electrical engineer and spent the first fifteen years of his career designing instruments in the aerospace industry.

Terry then transitioned into software and worked in the cable television industry, before shifting into data storage as a firmware engineer. Later, he started his own consulting company and worked as a contractor.

He is now semi-retired but plenty busy — Active in their church, he leads the worship production team, volunteers with the Red Cross, and acts as an usher at the Arvada Center. Fortunately, their three children live in Colorado, so they can visit with their four grandchildren regularly. Terry and his wife love the outdoors and still play volleyball.

Terry maintains his ham radio repeater, a Yaesu DR2x at 449.675 (-) DN in Arvada, Colorado. He also hosts the morning Weather (outlook) Information blog on Telegram and takes on whatever else sparks his interest (lately a lot of AI). In addition to this, he is working to get all his photos amassed into interesting video stories, keeping those memories alive. The Koelling’s are looking forward to their next adventure(s)!
